Handwriting for kindergarten students can be challenging at times, to say the least. I want my students to be successful and know how to form letters correctly without having to think too much about it. However, rote handwriting practice worksheets can be tedious for young children. I finally started to think of ways to encourage handwriting without making it seem so… stifling. Kids LOVE to color – any reason to get those crayons, colored pencils, and markers is wonderful – so I created fresh and fun handwriting sheets that also embrace their need to just chill and be kids! Plus, coloring is a great fine motor activity, wonderful for spatial awareness, and not to mention calming. Looks like handwriting for kindergarten can be a win-win!
Alphabet Handwriting Practice Worksheets
My students and I love these letter formation sheets because they feature fresh and updated pictures! No boring apples here – the picture for “A” are astronaut, avocado, and act (as in a theater play). So cool! Seriously – the pictures are so fun!
Alphabet Handwriting Practice Mini Book
These adorable alphabet mini books also feature new and updated pictures, but in a more manageable size for beginner writers. A cover is included so your students can write their names and make these books their own.
Trace and Write Handwriting for Kindergarten
Picture tracing is a super fun way to add fine motor practice to your students’ handwriting practice activities! Your littles will get to trace and color the picture with their favorite crayons, colored pencils, or markers.
Handwriting Practice Worksheets and Coloring Pages
Ice cream? Yes, please! Your students will love coloring this friendly T-Rex and Pterodactyl! Pair these dinosaur handwriting practice worksheets with colored pencils so your students can “rainbow write” by tracing the letters with each color to make a fun rainbow effect.

Your kids will love the CVC coloring pages, but they’ll be practicing reading and writing too! The CVC words tracing worksheets come in several versions to make it easy to differentiate for your learners.
